About this deal

Her work is honest and diverse, and her themes resonate with the ones of her generation: mental health, queerness, navigating friendships, fandoms, and the internet. The depiction of Jimmy’s intense anxiety and how life limiting it can be was so frank and honest, and really drew attention to how sometimes you have to put yourself first. Oseman speaks of anxiety; of becoming a celebrity when young; and how fandom and fans themselves are viewed from both the inside and the outside. And this why the labor of sensitivity/authenticity readers is so important: It lifts the curtain of “normality” that we have been taught, and lets in the real people, the diversity that truly makes us human. Lister is aware of his problems though so I hope Rowan and Jimmy will help him to find his way back into a life without alcohol.

Now I have officially booked Lister as my guy bestfriend because every minute I will spent with him I know I will never fail to laugh ! Infatuation and fandom is a brilliantly tackled issue in yet another powerful book by Alice Oseman’s fabulous imagination. Girls scream over them, adore them and throw themselves at the boys, imagine early years One Direction, that kind of fame.I loved Radio Silence by Alice Oseman, that book definitely had an incredible message that touched me. There is also Jimmy, A gay trans guy who is like the main boy in the band, it was also good to read a representation of this kind that was well done! This is why representation matters: in another universe I would have just picked Lister and my list of favorite characters would more and more cis and just a tiny bit queer.

Your progress is valuable and you should be proud of every little step you’re making in the right direction. It is the first book (and considering how much I read that’s saying a lot) where I’ve read about not only a transmasculine character, but a trans protagonist. P) I know Jimmy’s grandfather would think we only do this because we have no life but I assure you: I have a life and I love and respect myself. For Angel Rahimi, life is only about one thing: The Ark – a pop-rock trio of teenage boys who are currently taking the world by storm. When I closed the last page of this book, I had a million more questions than the entire time while reading. Once we get to the day of the concert, the novel becomes more serious as the characters grapple with the ugly side of fame and the public eye. And I know that people actually do that in 2018, but it is so gross that it honestly just made me want to take a hot shower and scrub my skin every time Angel and Juliet would talk about it.
