About this deal

It has been stated to have helped shape alternative hip-hop in the 1990s, as the group's "mellow innovations" helped jazz rap gain significant exposure from 1992 to 1993. The Low End Theory is celebrated as the closest and most brilliant fusions of jazz atmosphere and hip hop attitude ever recorded. However, the negotiations between the group and Jive lasted over a year and strained their relationship. He named "Check the Rhime" and "Buggin' Out" as highlights, while giving the album a three-star honorable mention, indicating "an enjoyable effort consumers attuned to its overriding aesthetic or individual vision may well treasure.

Bush also praised the group's use of the double bass, drums and samples: "It's a tribute to their unerring production sense that, with just those few tools, Tribe produced one of the best hip-hop albums in history, a record that sounds better with each listen. It's a tribute to their unerring production sense that, with just those few tools, Tribe produced one of the best hip-hop albums in history, a record that sounds better with each listen. Second studio album from the trio of Q-Tip, Phife Dawg, and Ali Shaheed Muhammad originally released in 1991 is considered one of the best hip-hop albums of all time. Initially only two of Tribes' first three albums were released commercially on vinyl, those being "Peoples Instinctive Travels And The Paths Of Rhythm" and "Midnight Marauders", as single vinyl LP's.

A 1991 landscape-changing release from the pioneering hip-hop group, The Low End Theory embraced a minimalist approach and set the tables for the alternate rap movement that followed. Similarly, "Buggin' Out" was the first song in which he layered two different drum breaks at once, which was uncommon at the time. Not a perfect pressing by any means, some parts did sound a lil distorted at times but overall a very solid repressing!Q-Tip had a cold during the recording process and did not want to sound congested on the album; because of this he wanted to re-record all of his vocals and began doing so before people told him he sounded "fine" and convinced him otherwise. Contrary to what Weiss and colleagues thought at the time, the record is harder-edged, darker, and, in terms of its adherence to established hip hop codes, actually a little bit conservative. The album introduced the lyrical interplay and chemistry between Q-Tip and Phife Dawg, the latter of whom experienced a lyrical breakout. The 7" collection is housed in a deluxe, fabric-wrapped 45 singles carrying case, with 360-degree original album art and custom inner wrapped ATCQ logo graphics and group photo. to further blur the line between jazz and hip-hop in an even more organic way than in the early '90s.
