About this deal

Concise and clear writing, this is a relatively short read expounding on Michael Caine's experiences with acting on film v. I did very much enjoy what Caine had to say, even when I did not understand what he was talking about. Caine always loves to talk about his rough-and-tumble cockney upbringing; I guess I can't blame him.

If the leading actor is talented and has great presence, if he can immerse himself into the skin of the character and use his unique acting skills and methods to engage you, you will believe in the character he plays. Learn from two-time Academy Award-Winning actor Michael Caine how to properly prepare yourself for a very competitive field. His first major starring roles, beginning in the 1960s, include 'Zulu,' 'The Ipcress File,' and 'Alfie. It's a very handy practical guide to day-to-day-life for anyone in the film industry, and Michael Caine narrates us beautifully through his own experiences in the industry.

I was reading Sidney Lumet's Making Movies but wanted some more detail on actors and acting, which led me to finally open Acting in Film, which I'd learned about last September. Sir Michael Caine, CBE was born Maurice Joseph Micklewaite near Elephant and Castle in South London.

I was a Cockney boy and obviously didn’t fit anybody’s idea of what an actor was supposed to be, so I decided to put together elements that added up to a memorable package. This book is particularly helpful to actors who are crossing over from theater acting to film acting. He also discusses the fact that people pigeon holed him as a 'cockney working class actor' and the problems this caused in his career. This book is easy to read and full of interesting information about acting, the film world and technical information as well as personal stories by Michael Caine. All this plus an awareness of breath, relaxation, and human psychology will help turn a stumbling film and television actor in a great one. Five stars for Gary at Quantum Leap for solving my compatibility issue and teaching me a new trick with my player. Sus consejos son directos, nos cuenta sus anécdotas, nos muestra cómo funcionan los rodajes y su impresión de la industria.

In this book actor Michael Caine describes being a leading actor in films, he says that his job is the carry the entire film and give life to the filmmaker’s vision. The advice given had even more resonance as it was written by his all-time favourite, Michael Caine. The beautiful partnership he had with Connery in Man Who Would Be King, and how they supported each other, made each other better, and made a better film. I questioned this with the seller and he - Gary from Quantum Leap - assured me there should be no problem. Mr Caine knows exactly what he’s doing and his advice is the most helpful I’ve found so far on acting for the camera.Caine plays an agent described as a ‘trickster, insubordinate, someone who refused to follow the rules. He tells you about competitveness bewteen actors that some thrive on, but he does not like to be competitive and does not think it helps his acting career to be like that. I actually have no imminent plans to appear in a movie, so I didn't really need the advice given here.
