About this deal

With so much weight on it from above, the Twits literally get 'the shrinks', as was mentioned earlier in the book, but this time it's not a trick; it's the real thing. I firmly believe the reason why Dahl's books seem to strike such a chord with my children is precisely BECAUSE they are so dark.

In The Twits, more than a dozen changes were made, including changing "ladies and gentlemen" to "folks" and removing words like batty, nutty, screwy, ugly, and hag. In April 1999, a theatrical musical adaptation by Justin Pearson (general manager and the artistic director of the UK's National Symphony Orchestra) and actress Anne Collis, directed by Michael Dineen was presented at The Questors Theatre in Ealing, West London. The Twits, who are retired circus trainers, are trying to create the first upside-down monkey circus. A second production of The Twits adapted by Enda Walsh and directed by John Tiffany was performed at London's Royal Court Theatre in 2015, running from 07 April - 31 May.To keep their heads glued to the ground, two birds will put a small amount of glue on the Twits' heads right before they enter the house so that when they stand on their heads, they will be stuck. Twit pretends to tie some more strings to her ankles, before cutting through the strings and sending her skywards. But the real reason she carried a stick was so that she could hit things with it, things like dogs and cats and small children. By doing this, the Twits will believe that they have been turned upside down, as they will be standing on what looks like the ceiling of their house and will stand on their heads to be the right way up.

In 2020 during the COVID-19 lockdown, a theatrical reading of The Twits was performed at London's Unicorn Theatre directed by Ned Bennett and performed by Zubin Varla and Martina Laird.Twit up in the garden to 60 gas balloons intending to leave her there for a while to teach her a lesson. Usually by Christmas time, half of my kids are walking around showing off their entire Roald Dahl box sets. The story is about a family of unfortunate monkeys held in a cage by the frankly horrible Mr and Mrs Twit; a not-too-intelligent couple who delight in playing cruel pranks on one another.
